Motor Development: BooBoo started crawling around 9 months, so things have livened up a bit around our house!
BooBoo is all over our house and into everything. He happily will play by himself for long periods of time, which was quite different than Littlemiss. He can move quickly, so I'm always on my guard when he's awake. He has a fascination with electrical cords and goes to them all the time. I only have the one that goes to the computer that is partially accessible under my desk and he always finds a way to it.
He reaches towards objects handed towards him and reaches to us when we go to pick him up. He is working on his pincher grasp to pick up small objects, like cheerios.
Perpetual-cognitive Development: He reaches for toys that are visible, but out of reach. He puts everything into his mouth almost immediately when he holds onto it. He on cue of a specific sound we make will throw himself back to be caught when being held. He thinks this is so funny and enjoys doing it repeatedly.
Speech and Language Development: He babbles a lot, especially when he eats. He mimics sounds we make, and will smack his mouth in response to us smacking. He says "da-da" and "ma-ma" but not in reference to us. When he wants our attention he will shout and make loud sounds.
Personal-social Development: He doesn't exhibit stranger anxiety unless he is tired or hungry, then he prefers me. He likes to be close to me at all times when he is awake. He doesn't like getting his diaper changed so he will kick and cry.
As far as eating goes, BooBoo is eating solids twice a day and has started finger foods. He will chew on cooked broccoli, carrots, cheerios, and small pieces of bread. Cheerios are once again all over our house! Even the dogs are sick of eating them. I prepare all of his baby food and he is transitioning quickly to finger foods versus pureed foods. He seems to prefer finger foods and will sometimes reject pureed foods, so I'm having to get creative in feeding him. It's funny cause he loves to shovel handfuls of food into his mouth at a time.
BooBoo is far from sleeping through the night. I am exhausted and often frustrated, not with BooBoo, but with trying new methods that fail again and again. I am hopeful that he will start sleeping longer soon. Most nights he wakes up 3 times to eat. I can sometimes hold him off, but sometimes he's too upset or I'm simply too exhausted. He has had a few nights, maybe once a week, in which he sleeps through the middle feeding. I'm hoping he starts sleeping soon!
This pic cracks me up...he's holding the cow by the neck and chewing on it's ear.
Fell asleep sitting up.
Laid him down & he slept outside for a bit :)
He's EVERYWHERE!
