Ice Paintings

I love the idea of children as artists. I can't wait to have a gallery in our house of our kids art work, framed and all. It really instills a sense of pride in their own creations, therefore building a healthy sense of self and self-worth.

For Mother's Day this year Littlemiss created pictures using ice paint as her medium. As soon as the weather started warming up around here, she has painted with ice a few times. She really enjoys it. To make ice paint, mix food coloring with water in ice cube trays and freeze them with tongue depressors or pop sickle sticks in the water. I froze our paints in a baby food tray, which the cubes are twice the size of regular ice cube tray cubes.

Framed result!

She loves to stack the ice paints.

An artist at work.

It's a tad bit messy, which is why she only wore a pull up.

Voila!
