This is a dress I made for Littlemiss's Fall wardrobe.
Her "photo shoot faces" are getting funnier and funnier. This is proof she has her father's sense of humor :)
I couldn't resist adding a progression of her expressions... "Huh??"
"Cheese!"
Now she's posing.
The top of the dress was originally a women's shirt I thrifted. I couldn't resist the gray and bright yellow stripes, and soft texture.
The middle of the shirt before. I replaced these buttons.
A blurry pic of the skirt before. After chopping it up and making it into Littlemiss's dress my hubby was upset cause he liked the skirt on me...so sorry hon!
I used an current tank top as my pattern. Leaving an extra inch on the sides and along the top where the front and back of the shirt is sewn together. I didn't add an inch around the neckline scoop and armholes, because I'm simply adding bias around these areas, so they don't need extra length.
I skipped a few steps...oops! I'm not great at remember to take pics when I'm in the "sewing zone." To make the bias for the armholes and neckline I cut off the hem at the bottom of the skirt, because it's already folded in half. After sewing the top and bottom pieces together I attached elastic all around the inside of the skirt (pulling as I sew to make sure it gathers the material when done) to bring it in around the waist. Aren't the buttons PERFECT. They were $7 for the pack of 3 at JoAnn's, but I had to have them for the dress. I used one of those fabulous 40% off coupons to make it worth the purchase.
