BooBoo--11 Months

I totally skipped over BooBoo's 10 month update....so here's an 11 month update!

Physical Development: BooBoo is around 23 pounds. Still hanging onto those adorable rolls :) His teeth have come in randomly, and quite painfully. First his bottom middle two came in simultaneously around 9 months. Then randomly the tooth to the right of his bottom middle teeth erupted. Quickly followed by a top tooth next to his top middle teeth, before they erupted. Then the middle tooth farthest from the from that tooth. Then the other tooth on the other side of his top two teeth, and finally the other top middle tooth. Sounds confusing! They were all out of order and one after another. We've had a lot of sleepless nights due to back to back to back to back to back teething :)

Motor Development: He enjoys and mostly prefers to feed himself, so he's utilitizing his pincher grasp a lot. He's pulling himself to standing and sometimes stands unasisted. He can walk while holding our hands and can almost walk only holding one hand.

Perpetual-cognitive Development: He's starting to follow simple directions, like waving, clapping, and high-fiving. I'm teaching him new "tricks" every day simply for our enjoyment. He loves to do them and it's the best way we communicate and enjoy each other at this stage.

Speech & Language Development: His favorite time to vocalize is when we are at the library or grocery store where the sound echoes or sounds louder. He mostly makes high-pitched sounds, but often varies pitch to his own enjoyment. He says "ma-ma" and "da-da" just not very often. Usually when Clay gets home from work BooBoo says "da-da-da-da" over and over. It's cute.

Personal-social Development: He has some stress with strangers, especially if he is hungry or tired. He typically wants to know where I'm at all the time, which makes sense cause I'm his main food source :) He has started resisting diaper changes and often arches his back and cries. This is his typical response to anything he doesn't want to do. He has attached to a blanket, which is a quilt I made him. I still haven't posted pictures of it...ooops. He understands "no" and often responds to it. I often have to say it a few times and if it's dangerous (electrical cords and climbing on the fireplace) I smack his little hand. It doesn't make him cry he is just stunned by it and will stop what he's doing soon after.

Eating: He's eating EVERYTHING we eat. Well, most everything. It's still not good for him to eat honey, peanut butter, and egg whites. So most days he eats egg yolks, cheese, cooked (soft) veggies, fruits, meat, the list is endless. We are going to start him on raw goat's milk soon instead of cow's milk. Goat's milk is the closest thing to breastmilk in nutritional value and long-term health benefits. There is a lot of research out there on goat's milk benefits, most Americans are just used to cow's milk as the norm.

Sleeping: This has been so much better lately. He mostly gets up twice a night, but will go back to sleep after the first wake without feeding and then will nurse early, early morning and go back to sleep. We are starting to see a rhythm of sleep patterns. I ideally would like to get up before my kids to spend time alone in prayer and Bible reading, and then preparing for the day. Hoping this can be a realistic goal soon!

I haven't taken the classic green PB chair picture yet, so here are some of my recent faves.

His favorite place in the house, right by the window. Like the dirty windows? Clay had just done some yard work and muddied them up :)
