Tot School: Letter P

Littlemiss is 28 months old
Tot School

Another great week! Tot School has been one of the best decisions I have made around our house. The focused, one-on-one time I get with Littlemiss has been invaluable. It's not as much about teaching her the ABC's and 123's, it's about getting to know her, and who God has created her to be. It's about giving her opportunities to explore and experience things, even if it means getting messy. It's about making me STOP as a mom and spend purposeful, child-directed time with my child. It's about having FUN! Littlemiss LOVES doing "activities" with Mommy. What a blessing this time has become around our house. I love watching her personality unfold, and I just love watching her explore and learn.

Tot Trays for the week (from left to right): size sequencing penguins, octagons, play dough, puppy dog tangram, pounding pegs into foam, and parrot colored matching pegs. I got the yellow trays in the dollar section at Target.

Magnet board with upper and lower case "P's" and penguin puzzle. I left the "P's" the way Littlemiss built them, with the one "p" backwards.

Penguin Toob animals. She played a lot with these this week. She loves the little animals!

Tracing. I started by holding her hand and moving it while saying, "down and around." She would repeat this as she traced the letters.

She doesn't color the pictures on the pages, so I encouraged her to color the penguin and she colored his eyes, nose, fingers, and toes.

Counting the penguins with glass beads.
Helping Daddy put together a book shelf using her hammer.

Pounding pegs into foam. I am pretty brave to hold my hand there!

We did a few activities with the different sized penguins. I am trying to teach her small, medium, and large. I would group four of the penguins together, like three large penguins and one small. Then I would ask her, "which one is different?" and "which one is the smallest?" We worked on this for a few minutes, but she really just wanted to line up the penguins and talk to them.

Play dough! Little girl being silly and putting play dough on her face :)

I made a "P" out of play dough and she held it and talked to it like it was a baby. She's cradling it here. EVERYTHING is a baby these days!

Trying to stand up the P.

All FIVE tutus, high heels, and her sunglasses! She's a hoot!

BooBoo's been working out in the exersaucer. He's doing so well holding him self up. Littlemiss just loves that he is face to face with her when he's in it.

We did ice painting this week! I can't remember where I got the idea, but it was either off of a blog or Pinterest. Mixing food coloring and water to make paints for ice painting. This is the container for freezing baby food in, but any ice cube tray would work.

Mixing colors in her tutu!

Frozen colors.

It was warm this week, so we were able to do a lot outside. What a blessing!

Of course she had to taste it!
Stacking! I love it when she does something unexpected and creative.

So proud of herself!
How high can she stack them!?!

Banging them together.
This would make great art to frame. Next time I would have the ice on a plate so that it doesn't leave puddles on the picture.
A penguin themed sensory table. I froze water into two different containers and some heart-shaped ice cubes I dyed red. I colored the water using Sesame Street bath colors. Then we added her Toob penguins. This was a big hit!!!

The penguins are chasing each other "roarrrrrrrrrrrrrrring!"

It rained this week, so she played in the rain too! I didn't get any good pics cause I didn't want to get my camera wet.

Littlemiss and Daddy went to Dessert with Daddy at her school. It was sweet Daddy and Daughter time :)
